How to Spread ADHD Awareness All Year Long

This blog post is scheduled to be released on the last day of ADHD Awareness Month 2022. Every year, I find the end of ADHD Awareness Month bittersweet. All of the cool activities designed to raise awareness about ADHD end, but at the same time, there is a relief. As someone who works with those with ADHD, I feel pressure to include ADHD awareness in my marketing during the month of October. This year, I did that. Other years, I have not. However, I am of the belief that ADHD awareness is for the whole year, not just October. So, how does one go about spreading ADHD awareness all year long? I have a few ideas.

Talk about It!

If you have ADHD, talk about your experience. One of the reasons there is a stigma around ADHD is that we don’t talk about it enough. By normalizing the experience of those with ADHD, we can fight back against the stigma.

Post on Social Media

If you have been sharing information on ADHD during October, don’t stop! You are allowed to share information throughout the whole year. You can share your own experience, or you can share articles you have read. Reset ADHD publishes a blog post on ADHD every week. Feel free to share on social media!

Attend the International Conference on ADHD

Every year, there is a giant conference on ADHD. This year it will be held in Dallas, Texas November 17–19. If you cannot make it to Dallas, have no fear! The conference is a hybrid event this year, meaning you can attend in person or virtually. It is a great opportunity to learn about ADHD, make connections, and have fun. Most importantly, it will inspire you to live life to the fullest. When you go, you feel a desire to talk more about your ADHD and share with others what you have experienced. I attend every year, and I cannot wait for this year’s conference. After two years of virtual conferences, I am ready for an in-person event. I hope to see you there or at a future conference.

Live Boldly

Once people know you have ADHD, how you live your life will continuously inform them what life with ADHD can look like. If you live your life boldly, that will shape how people view ADHD. So, get out there, and show the world what your ADHD life is like. It is up to you and me to change the narrative around ADHD and refute the stigma. I am up for the challenge. Are you?
