How to Foster Positivity in Your Life

The world can be rough, especially for those of us with ADHD. Many things can disappoint us or pull us down. With those challenges comes the temptation to get negative. No one likes being negative. Pessimists are often unhappy people. To counteract negativity, try a dose of positivity. Not sure how to stop the flow of negativity in your life? Read on! For, today we discuss ways of becoming more positive.

Watch Your Self Talk

Be careful what you say to yourself. When you catch yourself berating yourself, stop and come up with a new, more positive statement. What you pay attention to grows, so if you are constantly being negative in your self talk, you will be fostering a negative mindset. It is no fun to be mean to yourself, so try focusing on the positive aspects of yourself.

Focus on Your Strengths

You have strengths. They might not be easy to identify because of years of throwing dirt on your accomplishments, but you do indeed have strengths. Start by remembering some of the compliments people have given you over the years. What have you done well? What fills you with joy when you do it? Start by identifying your strengths and then work on building up those strengths and do things in a strengths-based manner.

Surround Yourself with the Right People

Ever notice how the thoughts, opinions, or feelings of others seem to be contagious? The people you surround yourself with have an impact on how you view the world. If you are constantly with complainers, you will become a complainer yourself. Find friends who lift you up and have a positive outlook on life. Their outlook will rub off on you.

Play

Seriously, folks! Take the time to play. It can be hard with the hustle and bustle of life, but taking the time to have some fun is worth it. You will become a happier person and things will feel brighter. When you feel better, you think better. You become a more well-rounded person and can see the positive side of things more.

Laugh

“Laughter is the best medicine,” or so the old expression goes. Whether you believe laughter really is the best medicine or not, it has been proven that laughter is good for you. It makes you feel better, and you are more able to see the positive side of things. Find some way to laugh today.
