If you have ADHD, you will eventually come face-to-face with a weakness. What do you do when that happens? How do you respond to your lack of strength? How can you find a place of power? I make the claim that, when you come face-to-face with weakness, you must seek help outside of yourself in such a scenario.

Finding Strength in God

My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.
— 2 Corinthians: 12:9

Spirituality can be a great source of strength and consolation in our weakness. If we turn to the Lord in our weakness, He will aid us. He will give us strength. Due to our fallen nature, we are susceptible to pain and suffering. It is by uniting ourselves to God that we can sanctify and, in some cases, overcome our challenges. Many have wondered why an all-loving and all-powerful God would allow suffering, but I believe He allows suffering to draw us to Himself. God often works wonders through suffering. By wondering about my ADHD, I came to realize God was calling me to help others with ADHD. Receiving this call has given me great joy. When I brought my weakness to the Lord, He brought me understanding and peace.

Finding Strength in Other People

Even if you are not a theist, wisdom can be found in the idea of bring our struggles to someone else. It is in our nature to live among other people. Without loved ones, our lives feel empty. We are sad if we do not have friends and/or family. By seeking help from others in our weakness, we can find strength. The old adage, “There is strength in numbers,” is true. You do not have to go it alone. A team can be extremely powerful.

Finding Strength in Coaching

The above topic is exactly why I got into coaching. We cannot battle ADHD on our own. I want to walk with ADHDers through their struggles. I want to help empower people. Coaching, whether it is my coaching or another’s coaching, can empower you to be the person you were created to be. Click here if you would like to explore coaching with me.
