What should I do with my life? In what hobbies should I engage? How will I live my life?

The above questions are important questions that everyone needs to ask themselves. If you want to live a happy, fulfilling life, find the gifts God gave you and use them to the best of your ability.

God Doesn’t Make Junk

God looked at everything he had made, and found it very good.
— Genesis 1:31

God is perfect and does not make mistakes. He made you exactly the way you are and did so for a reason. God made you good. You are not a mistake. He did not screw you up. If you think you are not good at anything or have no value, you have not searched long enough and/or hard enough. There is good inside of you.

I praise You, because I am wonderfully made;
wonderful are your works!
— Psalm 139: 14

You May Not Be Good at X, but You Are Good at Y

Too often, we focus on the things we cannot do or do not do well. Sure, you may not be good at that that thing everyone else seems to do well, but you have other gifts. You are blessed with other talents. If you are a fish, don’t try to climb a tree. Use the gifts you have. You will have more fun if you do.

Moreover, the world would be boring if we all had the same talents. God gave us each a unique set of skills. The diversity of talent is beautiful; it is a work of art. To try to be like everyone else, makes the world less awesome. Be proud of your unique abilities. Embrace them.

Using Your Gifts Fills You with Life

As ADHDers, we need to find our talents and ways of using them. It is in using these gifts that we come to learn our value. After struggling in the classroom all day, some ADHDers can’t wait to get to their after-school sports practice. There, they can succeed. There, they are recharged. There, they feel better about themselves because they know they are good at something, they have skills. If you continue doing things other people think you should do, you will feel rotten about yourself. However, when you engage in tasks where you have natural strengths, life becomes lighter. You feel happier. You feel alive. Then, you will be using God’s beautiful creation (AKA you) in a way that glorifies Him.

The glory of God is man fully alive.
— St. Irenaeus
